So You Want To Get Therapy?
Frist off, welcome! We are excited you have made your way onto Solid Ground!
This is a quick post to encourage you to continue your mental health journey and to reassure you that you are not alone. There are a variety of reasons why someone would want to seek out therapy and each one is valid.
1. You are feeling isolated or lonely. Especially in times like this, these feelings of isolation and loneliness can be overwhelming. Not having the motivation to reach out to people, thoughts swirling in your head but not resulting in any type of desirable outcome or forward movement.
2. It seems you are feeling different then the people around you. You are not able to relate to those you are surrounding yourself with and feeling like you do not have the tools or skills to increase the satisfaction of these relationships.
3. Feelings of negativity that linger and fester and feel like they won't go away. It can be difficult to get unstuck and move forward when negative thinking holds us back. Luckily, this is a skill that you can learn to help yourself get unstuck and move forward into the space you want to be in.
4. Avoiding emotions of any kind and feeling like it's too negative to handle or that you don't deserve the positive in your life. Avoidance can come in many forms including isolation and withdrawing, numbing out to hours of Netflix, or using alcohol or drugs to ‘get through the day’. Therapy can help with processing these emotions in a way you feel good about and resulting in a lighter overall feeling in life.
If you can relate to these or maybe have your own personal reasons, therapy can help you sift through your stuff and have the life you envision. We want to help to feel settled, content and on solid ground.
